AU Alice in Wonderland with Rose as “Alice” and the Doctor as the “Mad Hatter” | Anonymous requested “Rabbit”

“Curiouser and curiouser,” mused Rose as she tread through the wild grasslands. She had lost the rabbit with the fob watch by now, so she was traveling alone. Her blue dress snagged on thorns so she lifted it lightly with one hand as she made her way through Wonderland. Giant flowers loomed overhead as she reached a beautiful iron gate, woven with ivy and such things she had never seen in all her life. As she entered, her small feet padded softly on the cobblestones.

In the distance, a mad man in pinstripes stood alongside his blue box. He watched her approach, smirking and singing lullabies to himself. He tapped his foot to the beat inside his head and slung himself behind his box.

Rose ventured into a magnificent garden, laden with greenery and stone architecture. At the end of a very long path, a strange blue box sat, bits of the land climbing up it. Rose couldn’t take her wide eyes off of it. She tiptoed near it, still holding the blue hem of her dress.

“Oh!” she exclaimed. “Why, we match, this blue box and I.”

“Oh, indeed you do!” said a man, his face peering around the edge, startling Rose. His wild brown hair matched the untidiness of his dress; his tie poked out from under his jacket, several buttons were missing, and one, mismatching, was sewn on in its place. His bright white shoes starkly contrasted the dark of his clothes.

Rose stuck out her chest, determined to be brave in this strange new land and said, “Hello. I’m Rose.” She offered the mad man her hand, which he took and shook profusely.

“Brilliant to meet you Rose! I’m the Doctor! And this is my blue box! Her name’s the TARDIS. Would you like to go for a spin?”

Hesitating, Rose quickly studied the man and the box, and asked, “How do you mean?”

“Oh, me and my TARDIS, we’ll take you anywhere! Out of this strange land, and into stranger! All of time and space, Rose. How does that sound?” He was bouncing on the balls of his feet now, a sharp twinkle in his eye. Rose recognized it as the thirst for adventure.

“All of time and space?” she repeated, incredulously. “That’s mad!”

“Oh,” said the Doctor, grinning manically. “We’re all mad here.”
