One thing I’ve learned since being here is that Arthur values your opinion above almost all others, even if he’d be the last person to admit it.
#can i mention how cool it is to have a variation of sherlock holmes where he says stuff like this #because it’s important #and this episode is my favourite so far because it’s surprisingly accurate #and it was just great to hear him say this #because sherlock holmes is of course intelligent and a modern sherlock would know this #and even though this holmes does have that social crass and indelicacy he’s softer in some ways to the others #which is what makes him different and a new take and interesting to watch #he’s a rare fictional example of a character who is pragmatic and driven and a bit socially blunt but also has a firm moral intelligence too #just because a character can be blunt and rude and not understand that they’ve just insulted someone doesn’t have to mean #that they don’t understand right from wrong (via teacupsandcyanide)
#the difference between the way he says this line though #the first time—to agravaine—it’s so…resigned #like he knows he has to just get this over with and god he doesn’t want to but he knows it has to happen #but fuck #FUCK #when he speaks to uther #he SPITS it at him #like he’s DYING to get it out there #he can’t hold it together anymore #can’t hold it in #he wants uther—more than almost anyone else—to SEE that magic can be GOOD #to SEE that he’s been by arthur’s side all these years #and all he’s ever done is HELP him and PROTECT him #and he’s ANGRY with uther because it’s uther’s fault he has to hide his magic from arthur in the first place #it was uther who put those negative ideas about sorcerers in arthur’s head #and merlin can’t fucking deal with it anymore #all he wants is for everyone to see that he is not what they think he is #he is so much more…so much BETTER
